BACKGROUND

I am a clinical social worker, licensed in Pennsylvania.  After graduating from Penn State University (BSW, 1980) I worked in community mental health and drug and alcohol counseling centers.  I received Masters in Social Service (MSS, 1985) and Masters in Law and Social Policy (MLSP, 1986) degrees from the Bryn Mawr College School of Social Work and Social Research.  While working in inpatient treatment centers and Employee Assistance Programs, I was drawn to doing longer term psychotherapy with people following their brief treatment in these programs.  I started a private psychotherapy practice in 1988.

My background and training is in psychodynamic psychotherapy and family systems therapy.  I have received further training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Sensorimotor Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  In addition to working with individuals and couples, I provide supervision and consultation to those for whom clinical consultation is helpful:  pastors, teachers, nutritionists and those practicing other healing modalities.
